Rev. Samuel Phillips
Rev. Phillips is the Associate Pastor at Rolling Hills Church. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Religion from Maryville College, in Maryville, TN. He received his Master’s of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA.
Rev. Phillips has served the Church in a variety of ways. He has worked as leadership for summer camps all over the Southeast, the Interim Director for Family Ministries at Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Atlanta, a chaplain with homeless outreach ministries also in downtown Atlanta, and most recently he has served as a Chaplain for the Spiritual Health Department at Emory University Midtown and the Winship Cancer Institute. Here he received training in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), and he has received certification in Cognitive Based Compassion Training (CBCT).
Rev. Phillips continues to be involved in service to the larger PC(USA) with connections to Montreat Conference Center in Black Mountain, NC. He has helped start the first young adult conference in the denomination called the Manna Retreat, and has served as stage leadership for the Montreat Middle School Conference.
When Rev. Phillips is not in the office, you might find him out riding his bike, taking his dog Charlie on a walk, or having a cold brew at a local coffee shop with his wife, and pastor, Maggie who serves at Village Presbyterian Church. What he loves most is connecting with God and neighbor through faith and nature!
