Chy Billings
Chy Billings is excited to serve as the Children’s Music Director for Rolling Hills Church. He also enjoys being a member of the chancel choir. Currently, Chy is a music teacher at Arbor Creek Elementary in Olathe, KS. Chy has served as section leader, guest soloist, liturgist and cantor for several churches throughout the Wichita (KS), Toledo (OH), and Kansas City (MO) areas. He also had the privilege of serving as the director of Music for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (Maumee, OH), Pine Valley Christian Church (Wichita, KS) and most recently First United Methodist Church (Wichita, KS). In previous directing experiences, Chy maintained all aspects of the music ministry including directing chancel choirs, planning, rehearsing and performing music that enhanced liturgy and the worship experience, hiring guest and staff musicians, and collaborating with KAKE television for weekly worship broadcasts. Chy holds a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance & master’s degree in opera performance from Wichita State University. He obtained his teaching certification through Fort Hays State University and some additional voice study from Bowling Green State University. In addition to teaching and directing, Chy also enjoys occasionally performing with opera and musical theater companies. In addition to church music and music education, Chy is also passionate about the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing community and making music accessible to people with varying abilities.
